2019 Ranger Ecoboost Oil Change Interval

I wonder if the catch can is contributing to that. I haven’t checked my oil yet.

As described on this site, these owners may have a issue. I was especially interested in the "oil evaluations/analysis" listed!

Interesting read. I'll have to keep an eye on this, meaning the truck and what the OP in the linked thread finds and gets as far as service and treatment.

The thought crossed my mind but the OP noticed a fuel smell before the can install. Others are noting the same thing and they don't have a can. There may be a link between engine build date with these people. I'll need to check that as well. My truck was built in June, so may be late enough to not be affected. I know there was a bad part in the system for the transmission that got a recall and a halt to the assembly line. Something similar could be going on here with the engine.

I asked him about that, and suggested he remove the can...... he didn't.

Gas in the oil... something ain’t right and it shouldn’t be around for for the catch can (or oil pan) to catch.

Yes, he should reassemble to "stock" config:)
But the second owner, BcP28 (Bennett), states his truck is 100% stock, on page 5 of the posting, along with a oil analysis on the same page!!

Ok, so my 2nd oil change was done at 6000 miles. (4k) Then, I read on other Ranger websites, of some owners dealing with a "increase", in oil level following their oil/filter change, possibly due to fuel getting into the crankcase. I wasn't careful when setting/adding the oil to my engine, just dumped in the 6 quarts, ran it checking for leakage, pulled the stick, verified in-between the marks, and motored on--since reading about this issue, (mileage now at 7000), I checked the level after sitting o/nite--level is 1/4" over full mark. Will continue to monitor, but I'm wondering if the "design" of the high pressure pump, allows a small amount of fuel, over time, to enter the engine/work past the pump interior, just as a characteristic?? My fuel mileage is great, and have no driveability issues, but this alone would be cause to change oil at 3k intervals.

I'm going to "sort this one out", myself!! Will not be difficult to establish if oil level is increasing. Pretty sure, level was below the line to start with, but no guessing on this one!!

Exactly! IF, there is something here, that Ford might change/modify/repair, in the future, changing oil at early intervals, could make all the difference!

My truck was built 7/24/19 engine built 7/17/19

Early oil changes are my modus operendi (sp?) anyway. Every spring and fall along with brake inspections and seal, hinge, and latch lubing. Mileage doesn't matter. I keeps me looking at everything and tackle issues when they are small and at least cheaper, if not cheap. It's worked for me so far and exceeds the manufacturer's minimum requirements.

PMCS?

Partially Mission Capable? Talk to @PetroleumJunkie412. LOL

YES, lots and lots of preventative maintenance. The people who have bought my vehicles after me have loved me for it. Even if they were 20 or so years old when they got them.

I was forced to sell my 03 Ranger in 05 after buying it new. The guy buying it said it was in better shape than the new 05 he looked at. Maintenance is the way to go.

FOLLOW UP----So, this morning I checked my oil level--used same method described above, including picture this time-- Mileage on truck at 7900, so 900 mile since first level ck/establishment with all in town/daily commute use. Oil change, was at 6k, (1900 mile back), and I am seeing NO INCREASE in level in crankcase. Appears no change in level, fuel mileage (4x2) is in town, 25 mpg/hwy at up to 30mpg.

I've been keeping an eye on mine and the level hasn't changed.
