2011 Super Duty

My favorite superduty are the ones with the headlight style of the Red one here.

Koda, you like the fleet lights??? sealed beam look and stuff, cheapo black plastic???? Either way its great the new trans has a PTO.

to big for my taste, but I do like the dash lay out and set up.

They look more rugged IMO. I wouldn't buy a truck because it's "pretty" with big shiny lights.

And JSpafford, nope never drove an auto/manual trans before. Thanks for the information.

Anyone who's towed with a manual knows that an auto transmission that is driven like a stick, still has the same shitty auto transmission parts that cause them to burn up and the sticks to be better.

I drove one auto in my life that would out work and out pull any stick you throuw at it. Well it was sort of an auto. It was a freightliner 917 (army 25ton dumper truck) It had a 16 spd airshift. It had a clutch and everything, but no pedal. The air clutch was released via the shifter engagements and was in theory only supposed to be shifted one gear at a time, You can however jump multiple gears. but even then it took forever to get up to speed and even longer slowing down as you HAD to downshift. The clutch pedal was the jake brake..

Don't forsee those being behind any light duty diesel engine. So until someone figures out how to make one work, I would still prefer a stick.

Ford WILL lose sales over this. I work at a RV dealer. You would be suprised how many guys have Powerstokes with the 6-speed.

+1 Don't think I'm going to waste my time with one of them now.

Yeah, clutches. :icon_idea:

Kind of funny, the old powershift transmissions are just like this new transmission only mechanical, pick your gear and go. Don't like it? Move the shifter around until you find one you do like. Rip them open and they look like a massive car transmission inside. John Deere brought them out in the '60's, now almost every tractor company in the world has them, you would burn your clutch out in very short order trying to keep up with one playing its game, very popular for loader tractors where you change direction and speeds a lot... pure torture for a transmission with only a clutch. And yet the traditional manual with a clutch that all but died out in tractors by the 80's is still stronger than than a properly built manually controlled automatic? It must not have been too bad, it helped propel the #2 tractor company to chase #1 into bankruptcy.

I imagine Ford was pretty sure they wouldn't loose much money by cutting the manual transmission. And if autos were really as bad as all these control freaks swear, nobody would touch them. The Torqueshift (the current transmixer) is darn near bulletproof right now, more sticks get dragged into the local dealership than automatics since it came out, which is weird because they sell more automatics. They are also a major PITA to work on when they do break.

I finally got a chance to go thru the article.

Really aside from the grille I like the changes they have made. I still am not overly fond of the over/under lights on the front, but I can see why they changed them. At least on this style in the daylight it isn't as obvious which light is where.

Interior looks freaking sweet, much fancier than dad's '04. It is funtion over form to the T, which is all right but it never hurts to make something look halfway interesting either.

Doesnt the front end look alot like the new silverados?

Why cant they build trucks that look like this anymore....

You can nit pick them all you want for there shortcomings, but in my mind they'll always be the best...

later,

I was down at my local FORD dealer, pricing out a new F250 and was told for 2010 the manual was dropped (cause it was a 1% seller), and if i don't have the coin to order one before the 2011 models come out I'm going used.

Meh. The grill looks just like that of the fusion, and the bumper has too much open space. Sucks that they ditched the 6 speed. I'd still go for an OBS with a cummins swap before I'd lay down the coin for one of these. :icon_cheers:

Are the Duramax and Cummins still available with manuals?

I think Cummins maybe but not duramax.

Dodge is the only full size that still has a manual tranny. I like the front end a little better than the previous down syndrom look they had before but now i think it looks more like this:
