2011 ranger *rant*

Ooohh...HAHAHA You still don't get! You all are whining about the lack of ranger options, I suggest they think outside the box and get customer feed back on some of their options, Seems to have worked for the new ford hybrids.... Oh and yes I know quite a bit about marketing seeing how I made a good living doing for a long time. I'm just pulling your strings now! :-)

Well if what you said was true you would know Ford DOES survey customers for their input all the time. Maybe the majority doesn't need more configurations for the Ranger. I for one haven't bitched about options on it once. I buy my vehicles loaded so I don't really care how many ways I can configure it. Once you put all the stuff in there, there's really only one configuration.

PS. I don't know what you think you mean by pulling strings. We are discussing this. Is that some elementary school approach to reverse psychology where you think I will stop responding because you said you are making me do it?

Jason, you must not have looked into the raptor too much. New motor next year too. And a tundra might feel the same on the road, but not jumping it in the desert. Stick a rainbow sticker on the tailgate of the tundra, and stamp trd on it. Thats their offroad version.

Dude, don't let marketing hype get you. Go look under that thing. Granted it is a better suspension than the F-150 has but it is MILES away from what you see under a desert racing truck.

that is what Mini-vans are for. >:(

x2. I have a std cab with buckets (2 seater) and wouldn't want it any other way. Van is the way to go for hauling light stuff with 4+ people also on board LOL. This is why I have an assortment of vehicles.. :icon_twisted:

Pete

i don't really mind the ex cab cause it is just me and my wife and then people ride in the bed out to the campsite(damn tuners) I think the main use for the extra cab is throw crap in the back which is nice for tools. but it would be nice to not see the same truck every year with maybe a new grill. or new wheels. They dont even offer the FX4 which is a large icon of ford. I know it wouldn't be feesible to make a retarded gnarly offroad version. but like hatman said just use the innovation. It might be a back step but offer a d35 solid axle. People like what they like and you cant really change that and bad things happen when you try usually.

And out here must be where all the raptors are goin cause they are driving around all over.

and....harsh bro^^^^^^

granted this is same in other things too...i own a '05 honda trx 450r....its light years from straight up "racing", more or less an agressive "cassual" ride....now in '07 or so....KTM (full out racing brand) made their 4wheeler debut... KTM 450 XC or KTM 525 XC...full of power, racing tires/rims all the goods...but when people bought them to race, they still changed out the suspension....they are still considered the most race ready rides, but they still need changes...

the Raptor might have better stuff, pro's will change things to race, its a given....its more for a "casually agressive" rider not the racer.

i know its not race ready, but its still a hell of a lot better truck then the tundra. I WOULD NEVER THINK SOMETHING OUT OF THE FACTORY WOULD BE RACE READY.THE TOYOTA JUST HASE WHEELS AND BILSTEINS, OH, AND ABOUT 3INCHES OF GROUND CLEARANCE ON THE FRONT, LOL.

Just go look under one. Forget the brochure. Foget the hype. Just go look at a Raptor. I promise you will be underwhelmed. It's nothing special and that's the point. It's no more special than a TRD Tundra. In case you aren't getting the message I am NOT saying the Tundra is special. I am saying the Raptor is NOT except for power.

Why are we fighting about the raptor? it is a new truck and from what i have heard they don't have many problems with it. It makes it something from the factory that already has ground clearance, decent flex, and capable offroad. Of course it is not going to be perfect from the factory because they have limitations. But it is a good start and i at least give them props for that. The raptor is different than the rest but you can't expect it to be a factory race truck.

Why don't you go compare again?

The TRD is the same as a FX4 or Z-71. Stickers, wheels, couple extra skidplates, shocks, and maybe something a little extra in the rear diff and not quite as pathetic as a normal truck all season tires. Pretty much a glorified appearance package.

Not much stuff under a Raptor is the same as a ordinary F-150. The high end ordinary F-150's will be getting a 6.2 as well so that novelty will be going away.

I haven't looked under either truck, but both look much different going down the road... one has real tires and ground clearance and one has neither. It would probably be hard to see suspension flexing ability in a parking lot or driving down the road but they can't lie about that in a brochure.

Another one that doesn't get it. I'll use caps to see if that helps

I MADE THE COMPARISON BECAUSE REGARDLESS OF MARKETING HYPE NEITHER TRUCK IS ANYTHING SPECIAL!!!!! I AM NOT COMPARING THE TUNDRA TO THE RAPTOR BASED ON TRUCK VS TRUCK I MADE THE COMPARISON BECAUSE BOTH ARE OVERLY HYPED BY THE MANUFACTURER YET OFFER LITTLE OF THE HYPE IN REAL LIFE.

Do the larger letters help you guys comprehend the concept of an analogy?

Ok, i realize youre saying they are nothing special... Until you have seen one in action.... You saw one in a parking lot.... Not getting air. The suspension if far better and designed to take a lot more abuse than the stock f150 suspension. The trd has shocks and thats it.... Im not calling you wrong just saying you cannot judge a truck by looking under it.... There will not be any fancy colored things. Its meant to be a median for off road and on road, not a full out race truck. If you take a regular f150 over a jump at 60 mph, your gonna nose dive, bottom out, and break stuff... Multiple test have driven this thing in the desert, and its pretty stout, but like you said, not a full out race truck.

And sorry, back on topic... That does suck no limited slip on the new rangers! And i dont understand why the government mandates all the crap on cars now.... I dont want traction control, abs or any of that bs that makes idiots that cant drive feel safer.

I drove the damn thing for an hour. I didn't look at one in a parking lot only or I wouldn't have an opinion except for it's styling.
