2011 ranger *rant*

i sent a letter a while ago expressing my concerns about this, and what i got from it was that if enough people write letters, something will be done

We need to bombard Ford with our ideas for the ranger! I think they need to make a Raptor Ranger! I want to see that!

I tried to order one on Rock's with 66" Terra's and 1000 + hp. They were not perceptive to my advances... another night in the shop playin heydidlediddle with my oil soaked fiddle. :D

yeah, looked at the 11' options and it sucks, they need to put some of the F150 stuff on there!

I think the lack of option choice reflects the fact that it's being phased out.
No limited-slip (but 4 wheel discs) is because of the new stability and traction control.
My '08 Sport Trac has it. In deep snow it sucks big-time.

Not the reason.

Many other Ford vehicles still have a limited slip (they are standard on the Mustang) Many fullsize Ford trucks are losing the limited slip for actual differential lockers.

The Mustang sports the same diff as a Ranger, so it isn't even like they are not making the parts anymore (at least for the 4.0 Ranger's)

My guess is it is a checkbox that not enough people checked. Neither of my trucks have it, and the only time they get stuck in snow is when they lay on the frame and the wheels are dangling in the air...

For the offroader crowd, the factory limited slip is rather weak, and aftermarket lockers are cheaper for the open carrier. The open carrier is also stronger than the L/S carrier, so for the guy ordering his truck specifically for offroading it would make sense to skip the L/S option anyway.

i also think they need to up the size overall just a tad.. make it roomy enough inside for 4 grown men on the extended cab versions... it would go a looong way for sales. especially if you could put a baby seat in the back.

Definitely NOT. The Ranger's physical size is perfect as it is. If someone needs an F-150, they should buy the F-150, not something that pretends to be both. Not everyone needs a big huge truck just to haul around a couple bicycles, the occasional home-store purchase, or a mid-size ATV.

A baby seat in the back? FOUR grown MEN?:icon_rofl:

It's a COMPACT TRUCK DUDE!

It's NOT a nanny truck, and honestly I'm not going to be carrying around 1/2 TON of people in a COMPACT PICK UP truck.

The Ranger is NOT for sissies, that is what Mini-vans are for. >:(

haha i like how they made the new "wranglers" with 4-doors. that is what the cherokee was for 4-door suv not the "wrangler" even though i dislike jeep, but ford is forcing people to make choices, it sux

Thats the Wrangler Unlimited. The normal Wrangler is still a two door.

LOL. Ask fullsize guys about that one.

The rear seat is by far and away the safest place for a baby seat. There is no doubt that the lack of a decent place to put young offspring is a turnoff for some people.

The current Ranger is a two seater, no matter what they advertise. Not wide enough for 3 across and not deep enough for real two row seating. Make it wider and deeper with enough engine to propell it at a reasonable speed and you have a F-150. I know my parents '02 Explorer won't seat a full 3 across comfortably so I doubt even the new Sport Trac will either.

Sissy or not, it saves driving an extra vehicle when I go deer hunting with a group... and the guns can ride inside out of the weather too. I can haul six with my little extended cab comfier than a extended cab Ranger could haul 4.

The truth is these jackass exsecs have never had to use these vehicles, drive these vehicles, and damn sure never worked on or modded any of these vehicles! They just don't get it. Who ever came up with the Raptor, put that dude over the rangers! He frikkin gets it!

Because a $50+ truck built for desert racing has great apeal to the masses?

Sure they are neat, but most truck buyers don't need anything like that. I can get a 6.2 F-250 Superduty with a locker in the back for the same if not less money and that Raptor would be hard pressed to show it a thing around here.

Like most factory hot rods, they are just attention getters for the meat and potato vehicles.

Well put your money where you mouth is and go buy a Raptor or two. Frankly, I looked in to buying one in Warren, PA. I drove it and found that it's no better than a TRD Tundra except for power. All that talk about suspension and whatnot means nothing when you inspect it. It's just a truck with a fancy body. It may be something special for Ford, but it's the same as what others have already done.

I'm not talking about making a ranger like a raptor. I'm talking about the innovation they used to make it, and the new design ideas. They could use some of those in the option packages for the rangers. And unless I won the lottery I wouldn't be stupid enough to buy a $100,000.00 base price vehicle just for running in the dessert. I am a realist with four kids and I live no where near the dessert, however it would be cool if the made some good off road package options for different types of terrain. TRD is missing the E (TERD)At least with the raptor the throttle won't stick and I don't know..... KILL YOU!!!! LOL
I'm talking about thinking outside the box which is obvious from your last posts you know nothing about!

No one is buying the niche vehicles now. Why make more?

I enjoyed your personal attack but frankly it only reinforces my belief that you have no clue how automotive marketing and sales work and therefore had nothing of substance to add.

These niche vehicles don't sell well. The exist as a marketing tool. Something pretty for advertisements. I was looking to buy that Raptor in Warren because it's been sitting there for months and they are willing to take a bath on it now. And it's spelled "turd" if you have to think you are witty or something.

Ooohh...HAHAHA You still don't get! You all are whining about the lack of ranger options, I suggest they think outside the box and get customer feed back on some of their options, Seems to have worked for the new ford hybrids.... Oh and yes I know quite a bit about marketing seeing how I made a good living doing for a long time. I'm just pulling your strings now! :-)
