Probably. My 2001 Cobra corners as well as a modern-day BMW M3. (0.8 lateral g's)

My memory is not so good anymore so I had to find what the old one looked like. I thought the grill openings were different but not so. Guy across the street bought a new '68' 500KR convert, wonder if he still has it.

That's only half of the story though on the track. The steering on an M3 is much more precise. The understeer on the mustangs is absolutely atrocious. I always loved my dad's mustang until.....I drove a AMG benz a BeaveRun during a trackday I attend with my gramps. The brakes on the Euro cars are better, steering is better, and most of the time, the HP/Weight ratio, is better. Hell, that Benz was better than gramps' ZR1. That was one hell of a feat to pull off.

As we can see, price is the ONLY thing that helped the Mustang out. That is easy though, performance costs money as does top notch build quality. Of course, the Mustang would be better compared to a Lotus Exige for price.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the mustangs. They are a fun car and the price is right. They are even reasonably fast compared to the other cars you are likely to run up against. But if I want the best real world FAST car, it won't be a Mustang.
