2008 PSD has no boost

Now yesterday my nephew brought over my BIL's 2005 PSD (same guy that owns the 08) and it has no blinker lights, no brake lights..... and no blown fuses.

Multifunction switch. That's the only place all of those circuits meet up.

I noticed one of his guys jerry rigged a push button start for some reason. I wonder if somehow there isn't power going through that switch now...

I always thought Ford did a really decent job on their own diesel (unlike GM).

I thought you didn't know anything about diesels?

GM's first real diesel is still in production (now by AEP) after 32 years. I reckon it will last as long as the military uses the Hummer. What are you hacking on there?

The Powerstroke engines have lasted 9 years, 4 years, 2 years (American designed and built in Indianapolis) and now, with the Austrian-designed, Mexican-built Scorpion, we'll see.

I can't speak for the Isuzu Duramax. Is that what you were attacking?

well....32 years of fail

if the hummers had cummins or 6.9/7.3 idi,s there wouldnt be a NEED for the periodic repower program....and would actually have sustainable loaded power....if they could do extended heavy lifting there would not be a d-max.

meeting this arbitrary emission bullshit is killing the market and needlessly failing these engines

Just buy a Detroit Diesel lol.

I kid.

They are some pretty tough motors though.

I was a civilian contractor refurbing the HEMTT, and occasionally we rebuilt the 6.2 in the hummer, do you know that the life expenctancy of the 6.2 is only 3 months? We couldn't build em fast enough. The shop next to us was turning out about 300 rebuilds a month and they were barely keeping up with the engines coming in needing rebuilt

SVT ...

No sir. I don't need to know anything about diesels to tell you that the 350 diesel conversion is a big fail. That is what I am talking about.

This is exactly what the mechanic.at the dealer told my BIL, and also why the DPF is being removed.

:like:

The day I got mine removed with a hot tune. I got stopped by the PoPo for excessive smoke............

I was testing it against my uncles roush 427 stang. I kept up until he hit 5th :dammit:

Those days are over though. If I get any soot its from acceleration while towing. I try not to give diesels a bad name lol

I do love the sound of a screaming jimmy, they are usually "ok" at tractor pulls but they really put on a show. :icon_thumby:

They probably see slightly different usage than a regular vehicle, combine the "do or die gotta do it now" of combat with the "what the heck, it ain't mine" is a little different than hauling a trailer full of lawn mowers around town with your own truck.

Not sure of the Hummer but deuces are pretty easy to grenade especially when people over rev them.

I think this combined with the "oh, I need to change the oil?" mentality on maintenance is what did this particular 6.4 in. I still wouldn't own one.

Could be worse. Our head diesel tech is replacing a 6.4 engine right now. The idiots filled the tank with gas, went "oops" and ran it until it didn't run. Then they filled it with diesel, changed the oil and ran it some more until it didn't run.

We got it 2 gallons low on coolant, topped it off, test drove it a few miles, and then it was 4 gallons low on coolant.

John just said "engine time dummies".

Wow. Now that is an expensive mistake.

Out of curiosity, does 10 grand sound right to replace the motor and turbo?

Give or take. The one I just posted about is getting a used long block and a fuel system and their bill is $20K in parts alone.
