Hi everyone I’m new to TRS and am curious about a snorkel kit for these trucks. I’ve seen people do diy ones for cheap so I was gonna develop 3d printed kit for my 07 and I’m wondering if it would be of any help to the community. If the need was there I could sell a kit for real cheap or I could post the files. Any comments or suggestions are welcome

There is quite a huge variation of induction systems for rangers over the years and engines.

Pretty tough to nail down. And Odd maf issues can pop up easily depending on specifics.

That said.... anybody making anything in good faith for rangers has my appreciation.

3d printed stuff isnt water tight at all. Gonna have to flex seal that thing afterwards.

That depends highly upon the materials used and the construction. I have yet to do any testing myself but materials like abs and petg are known to be waterproof if not water tight. Once I do some testing though I will make some more informed decisions.

Thanks, that maf issue is good to know about I’ll keep my eyes up for it.

I promise PETG and ABS are not waterproof lol, They will both leak like hell. You might be able to get it to not take on water with a resin printer but conventional FDM printers will not print anything that resembles a water resistant. I work for a 3D printer manufacturer, we test everything from PLA to TPU and not just through our printers. We have found nothing that holds or keeps out water.

I’m assuming all of these tests were straight off the printer bed. My intention would be to figure out through some testing and research of my own which material along with a method of post processing like vapor honing, epoxy/resin would give me the best results. My theory is, If people are makin flower vases and toy boats using FDM printers then there is probably a way of making prints watertight

LOL. The final results might be different but as of right now my test pieces of basic pla have yet to take on a single drop of water. Now 4 hours in to being submerged. I’ve got multiple pieces with different print settings and a control with default settings that I’ll leave submerged for the next 24 hours but so far results are promising even for the cheap pla. Dry as a bone even with .8mm walls

Well more power to ya, i wouldn’t trust it on my truck without some Phil swift goodness.
