Bought my 05 ranger back in oct 2012.
Had a few problems with the fuel. Pump went out, relay, fuel filter.
Got it all replaced. And now it seems that the inertia switch is popping. Every time it starts up and drives for about ten minutes. An then just stalls out. Happened 5 times today. Twice on the freeway in dense traffic. (NOT F*CKING SAFE) and I have to depress the switch just to start it again. But idk if its popping or just fried. It doesn't click or anything just pushes in and comes back up. It also melted part of the carpet where the wires touched from the switch. This truck is the only vehicle me and my wife have. I'm a work and she has to go to work also. Idk what to do! Urgent help!!
Stressing bad.

Replace it and its connector.

Or, splice its wires together until you replace it. All of them, spliced together will bypass it. I think some have 3 wires, an extra to report fuel pump relay power to the PCM, if I recall correctly. I haven't owned or worked on anything newer than 2000.

There are crimp splices that just cut into the insulation when you squeeze it for a temporary deal like that. Scotchlocks might be the name. Just tell the auto parts guy you need a squeeze splice to join a couple wires without cutting the wire.

But really, the inertia switch isn't that expensive, or just get one at the junkyard from another Ford.

ok, yeah i did that. it worked. starts up everytime now. havent had it died yet. bought the part from the dealer since its factory. $108 wtf! lol
but i just bypassed them. i didnt use the part yet. going to try to find a cheaper one. but it still seems like it wants to die. a rough idle now. prob bout 600 rpm. and lower.
any ideas?
