just bought a 2005 ranger with a 2.3 getting a cylinder 4 misfire with a code reader, just replaced plugs, it does have iner valve cover leak to fix but not bad, should i replace the coil pack or the wires first or am i going in the wrong direction
thanks

sent it out to the dealer today, #4 misfire didn't mean anything pcm needed to be reprogrammed to fix the problem

I had this same problem, only it was cylinder # 2. Every couple weeks i just clean the oil out. I plan on replacing the gasket soon.

A friend of mine also has an 05 with a misfire code on #4, except it runs like poo, has a tapping noise in the top end, and actually has a miss. I tucked a paper towel down in the spark plug hole and it came up dry. it has new plugs and wires, but the coil pack is original. Is there anything I should check first?
