I have googled and am seeing 17 or 19.5. Reason I ask is I have only owned the truck a few months and the sending unit was out when I bought it. The previous owner said he just fills it up whenever it hits 300 miles. I put a new fuel pump assembly in this weekend. I drove a little over 100 miles and it was around 3/4 tank. I was driving on a long drive on a state highway so probably getting max MPG's. The last two times I have calculated the mileage it is right at 20. I don't want to just run it out of gas to see how accurate the gauge is but if I can routinely go closer to 400 miles instead of 300 between fill ups that would be nice as well. Just curious how many miles you guys are getting per tank (if you calculate that) with a 3.0 automatic.

Regular or extended cab? That's the break point, the longer cab allows for the much longer fuel tank...

For reference, my '98 Ranger XLT SuperCab 4x4 4.0/auto gets ~11.5l/100km (20.4 mpg <us>); when largely driving hi-way. The bravest we've been was just over 600km (375mi) for 70.6L (18.7gal). Gauge had been on empty for a little while.

Thank you, without knowing the capacity or if the fuel gauge was accurate or not I was timid to run it to low. At least now I know about how far I can run it low one time to see where the fuel gauge gets to. Plus I can let me knucklehead son know "about" how many miles he can drive and to not totally trust the gauge in this one.

Yeah, if you have a tachometer that gas gauge gets pretty small... on my '97 once I swapped to a tach cluster it got harder to judge, conveniently with around 20 gallons of capacity and 23ish mpg going to 400 miles is pretty safe
