I apologize if this was addressed in other posts, however if it was I am unable to find the info that I need.
I own a 2003 Ranger 4x4 with 4.0 manual trans...
Recently the Cruise control just stopped working. I turn the cruise "on" and push the "set" button, the dashboard light will turn on but will not hold speed.
The light does not go off unless I hit the brake pedal or clutch. Any ideas?
I also just replace the sensor that is located in the brake master cylinder...
Any help is appreciated

John

I also just tried to run the diagnostics (starting with holding "off" button)...
Each light is supposed to flash as it is pressed.
I believe the sequence is ON, CST, RSM, Then SET/ACCL.
The dashboard light will flash when the ON light is pressed but will not flash when any other button is pressed.
Despite the fact that while driving I can turn the cruise on and and the light will illuminate after pressing SET button, I am thinking that the right side set of buttons is bad.
The rear cab mounted brake light works btw...

Hi John:

I had a similar problem and my mechanic found the line from the cruise control to the accelerator linkage was damaged. I am not sure how he repaired it but it workd good now:) :) :)

I will check that out Ron. Thank you

I am not sure what the cable reel is...
Are you talking about the cable from the cruise control module to the throttle?

Yes, check the cable. It can be removed from the Cruise box (I believe it's still on the passenger fender on your newer truck?), also clips to the throttle cable at the throttle body.

Sounds like your fuses work, as the light stays on.

Yep, Cruise module box is on passenger fender.
I pulled the cable from the cruise mod unit, and seemed to move freely there.
I have not yet checked the cable at the throttle body.
All related fuses are ok.
