Hey guys my reverse lights for my 2001 Ford Ranger isnt working and yesterday I replaced the bulbs and the fuse. They still are not working so I was hoping you could point me in the right direction on where to start trouble shooting from here.

Thanks,
Keith

I dislike electrical as I can't see it and beat it into submission. But it helps to look at it as water flowing in a hose. If it isn't coming out the end, you have to trace back and find the kink. I 'd use a 12 volt tester in this case, the one with the pointy end and a light bulb inline. Test the light at the battery first to make sure the bulb is working. Then starting at the back, hook the clip to a good ground and probe the terminal looking to see if the bulb lights up. Work your way back. It helps if you have a wiring diagram specifically for your truck so you can see what color wire you're tracing.

Hopefully someone with better understanding will have some input.
Good luck,

Richard

Bump. This is a manual transmission. Does anyone have a pic of the sensor I need to be looking at???

Top of trans, LH side. It's the only plug there.

Is your fluid clean? I know when my fluid got dirty my lights would work intermitently.
