2001 Ranger Fog Lights. Need Fog Light Expert Assistance

I have a 2001 Ranger XLT. I want to add fog lights but have only seen pics on line of round fog lights and stores selling the round fog lights for older Rangers. Mine has square light fixtures.
Would my Ranger already be wired?
How can I check?
Where can I find the square OEM fog lights?
What other aftermarket fog lights will fit?

Any help appreciated.

Wiring is probably there. Look for pigtails behind the headlights. Not sure where the pigtail for the switch would be on that year.

You might find OEM fog lights at the junkyard. Otherwise, measure the opening and shop around to see what fits. Nilight makes some nice lights. I just got a pair on sale a week or two ago when somebody posted the link here.

My 2004 has the square lights, but the bumper panel is quite different. I don't think they would fit on yours.

That style bumper never came with fog lights. You have 2 options:
Find square fog lights that will fit and cut the bumper.
Change the front bumper to one with the factory round fog lights.

Technically there is a third option... mount round fog lights in the square holes, but that might not look so good.

Take a look at LMC truck for the available options for your year of truck. You'll probably need another valence, plus the lights and the switch. My 2011 has the switch built into the headlight knob, yours might be the same. You might need to look at a Ford parts web site as well to find all the parts. This is assuming you want to stay stock with everything instead of going aftermarket.

Keep in mind, with the illumination pattern of fog lights, they are meant to be used in speeds less than 35-40 mph. Using them at higher speeds can be done but tend to draw the eye closer to the front of the truck instead of looking out farther where one should be looking.

Here is the valance you would need for that year to make it look factory, $30 on Rockauto plus shipping. then add in your lights, relays switch and wiring. I did the same to mine but mines a '94 and not the '01 version.

Now I don't know if your flog lights screw to the valance panel or if you need a bracket but for my year a chunk of angle iron was all that was needed and saved weight in the end.

I e recently seen lights Stiles very similar to the indentations in the factory 2wd valance. Of course it was at night and the type of vehicles were unnoticeable due to traffic conditions but if I were to guess I'd say ford SUVs like explorer or expeditions. Measure the dimensions of those indents and when you find the lights get the measurements to see how close they come to se if they will fit. I did notice the vehicles were newer 2010 or newer is my guess.

Also look into the F250 square lights. These may be the size needed with a modification to the bracket of course.
