The LS is based off of a Jag, which is European.

I'm not sure if one was based off the other as much as they just shared a platform, along with the T-Bird, as Jag was owned by Ford at the time. Similar to the X-Type and Mondeo shared a platform.

The LS is an ok car. The wiring is a nightmare, especially with the LS8.

I have thought about putting one of those engines in a Ranger. Maybe if I ever have to switch mine to automatic tranny. It's the same 5R55S, just 2wd.

Rangers use the 5r55e, not the 5r55s. Despite having very similar names, the two transmissions have basically nothing in common.
