I have a 2001 Edge, its got a spindle lift on 33 inch tires, whenever i accelerate to go on the highway or to pass another car it revs a little past 3k rpm and bogs out, this happens in every gear.Any ideas what it could possibly be? oh and im looking to get more power out of it because its kinda sluggish.anything else i could add besides my k&n and flowmaster would help out alot!!! thanks

I think what myself and others would suggest to regear to get some more power. air filter and exhaust won't really do that much imo..

I don't know about that... I got a K&N drop in filter and one of those dynomax exhaust sytems. Well i just put the system on and the truck can keep a speed better going up this one hill. not to mention sounds pretty sporty!

So does anybody have any idea why the rev limiter wnt let me go past 3k rpm in every gear while driving,it doesnt happen everytime but most times when i need to accelerate it gains speed hits 3k rpm and pulls back.

Re-gear fo sho I put 4:56 in my daughters truck('o1 spindle W/33's) I'm guessing your in Long Beach? If you are, take the truck to Jerry's trans in Norwalk( he builds my race truck trans ) But he said that the gasket between the valve body goes bad, causes low pressure at low r's! get it looked at will save big bucks long run!

Does it bog or does it feel like it has hit the rev limiter? If it feels like the rev limiter, when it is cold doe it make it up around 4k before the rev limiter? Do you have a belt like squeal that comes and goes in relation to under hood air temps (cool on open highway, W/o Squeal, hot in stop and go, W/ sqeal) And always first thing in the morning. If you are experencing anything like this take a look at the syncronizer shaft issues, the 3.0 is know for them, at any mileage (mine replaced at 79K but had signs since purchased at 64K).

It's not the rev limiter that's stopping your rpm's at 3k. Does it do it when it's not under load too? Like going down a hill? If so it's not a lack of power issue. I'm on 33's and can tach it up to red line. I had almost the exact same problem with my '03 at 70k miles. It turned out to be my cam syncro. If I hadn't figured it out as soon as I did.....Well I would have been replacing my engine for sure.

Once you figure that out, and want more power here is what I would do:

1:Under-drive pulleys (helps a lot) http://www.stuffforyourranger.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=4_30

2:Re-gear it

3:Chip it

4:Run 115 octain:icon_rofl:

I have been having a squealing sound coming from under the hood when its cold early in the morning, but as soon as it warms up the sound goes away, what could that be, and how much money will a repair like this set me back?

Right on the money! Mine made more of a chirp then a squeal, and steadily got worse and worse. At first I thought it was my idler pulley bearing going bad.

I had mine done at a shop, and it cost around $300.

how does something like that go bad?,mine sounds more like a chirp too,it started doing it maybe a month ago or so,would the check engine light be on? because mine is not.

My CEL never came on. They just wear out over time. Since mine went out I started asking around, and it turns out it's pretty damn common. It's too bad, but it's the only somewht expencive issue I've had in 80K miles so I'm not bitch'n.

Is it something that a novice mechanic can perform on their own or would this be a job for an experienced mechanic? if its easy how do i go about fixing it?

Well I'm a CNC mechanic and can do most of the work on my truck myself with confidence, but I took my truck in because I've never done it and didnt have any margin for error. It's my DD and frankly would rather pay for an hour of labor and have a warranty. A lot of folks on this forum might thin me a puss for that being a cnc mechanic, but oh well. The shop I take my truck to backs their work a 100%, and cut me a hell of a deal. I'm sure you could do it your self with a manual and some pretty basic tools. Couldn't tell you for sure because I havn't done it. Either way make sure to do it ASAP. If you're to the point where it's cutting out at 3K rpm then it's in bad shape, and about to go.

I wish you luck bud. Have fun if you do it your self.
