I just got a 2000 Ford Ranger 4x4 Supercab a couple weeks ago. I noticed it engages into and out of 4wd pretty much instantly, and was surprised to read online that the PVH hubs it has normally take a couple seconds to do their thing. Well, to make a long story short, I was going to do a mod to make them manual hubs (controlled by pushing in with your finger)...I pulled the hubs, and low and behold - no auto hubs, just a spindle and a nut
wtf?
Is it possible my truck came with the 2001+ front axle even though it was made in june 99? It's a 5spd 4x4 XLT Supercab 4dr, 3.0 V6 with the offroad package (245/75/16 on alloys, skid plates, tow hooks).
