I just installed a new Fuel pump Assembly and the Gas gauge worked for a minute then showing full with a half tank of gas?

fill the tank up. The float is most likely stuck in a high position. By filling the tank it will bring the float all the way up and reset it.

although im not sure how it would go from reading half and then bounce up and get stuck on full.

Thanks for the help! OK I had problems with my Gas gauge working properly for awhile. Running out of gas and then after putting in several gal. and priming through air intake would sometimes be successful in restarting. Tired of that routine I replaced the entire fuel pump assembly in a tank with 1/2 full. The test drive afterwards was successful with showing half full. When i picked up vehicle 1/2 hr later and drove off the gas gauge pegged full. And it has remained pegged. Even when key is off the gauge still reads full slightly lower. I don't want to think it's a faulty new pump assembly and want to check other related possibilities, like the gauge itself, flex fuel module behind the instrument panel, any relays, etc. Any suggestions or questions would be greatly appreciated. Planning on visiting a Auto electic shop and would love to have some comments.

As a guy who spends his life working on other people's cars, if you take it to a shop, the guy working on it doesn't want to hear what you learned from a bunch of jack-asses on the internet. Nor does he really want your comments or input on how to do his job.

But I've seen the circuit board rub through at the connector on the back of the cluster and open the circuit. Your gauge reads full with high resistance.

Best line ever:yahoo:

Thanks for the advice! I agree! Thanks for the circuit board tip! I'll try not to piss anyone off today and tommorro! Have a Blessed Day!
