I have a '00 Dodge Ram 1500 that the speedo doesn't work. The fuse for the cluster is good.

I am thinking it is the speed sensor, but I can't find it.

Any input or help?

look on the transfer case or the tail stock of the tranny. It will be down there somewhere. Also you may want to check anything that may be tied to ABS. I had a Nissan on the hoist the other day with no speedo and I was ready to order another VSS for it until I found the underhood fuse for the ABS was missing.

I will check that out.

There is no ABS light on in the dash though.

The speed sensor in in the rear differential. It's the same speed sensor used for the rear wheel ABS. Are you sure your truck has ABS? Either way, it will have the sensor in the rear diff. Any auto parts store stocks them.

There are however, two speed sensors in your transmission. But, these speed sensors are only for the trans and the PCM. They have nothing to do with the speedometer.

Ok....I just realized this thread was almost a year old. Lol
