I was wondering. I have a chance to pick up a 3.0L ranger with a broken frame for dirt cheap and I have a 4.0L ranger with a bad trans. Would the trans from the 3.0L work on the 4.0L engine and if so what all do I have to change it and make it work properly, or would it be better to do the complete 3.0L engine and trans swap. Or is it not worth my time. Thanks ahead

No, 3.0l has different transmission bolt pattern than 4.0l

Manual or automatic, neither has swap-able bell housings and no adapter is available

It would be better to sell the 3.0l and trans and use that money to get or rebuild 4.0l trans.

2WD or 4WD matters as well, they have different tail shafts

So for the 2002 4WD 4.0l auto you need a 4WD 5R55E transmission from a 4.0l
