2 wheel drive , 4 wheel drive and low wheel drive

This is probably stupid but how do u put the damn push button in low 4 wheel drive . In 2 high its just push the button but for low i guess i nees some directions as i sat there over and over trying to get it in low. hmm. Any help from someone who knows/ thx guys.

If that doesn't work check the bracket. You remove the cover of the lever shifters and remove the bolt and adjust it. Mine didn't want to shift into 4 low until i found it.

As others have said, completly stop the truck, put in in nuetral (auto tranny) or clutch in with tranny in nuetral (manual tranny) and then push the button.
I'm not positive abotu the tranny being in nuetral for manuals, but I'm pretty sure that is why the nuetral safety is there (as well as other reasons).

If it still doesn't go in, you have larger problems...

Are you positive? There is a neutral sense switch on the M5OD.

In any transmission, Neutral. Clutch depressed. Complete stop. Press button.

It works the same for a GM Blazer too. Thou I do like push-buttom 2hi & 4hi. Just press at any speeds. 4lo tends to be tricky. It will sometimes not engage unless I roll at least another foot or engage reverse first before placing it in neutral.

There are two switches on an M5OD. One is reverse lights the other is some sort of neutral switch.. Dunno what it does, but there is definatly a second one on there.

And also know that it takes a few seconds to drop in, it's not instant like going into 4hi or 2hi...

I'm pretty sure the 2.9 M5ODs don't have the neutral switch. At least the one in my '90 BII didn't.

I believe all the 4.0 ones do.

I think I remember AllanD saying the neutral sense switch was used for emissions/idle circuit?

except for Jspafford's is a 2.9 and he says it has two (or maybe he hasnt checked HIS truck).

and BlackBII has a 4.0 and he only has one switch.

my trucks a 3.0 and only has one switch.
