well i got the chance to buy 2 bronco 2's for 200 bucks. one of em has a new motor and a new trans, but it has been rolled. i think its an 86. the other one is around the same year late 80s b2 and needs a new motor and trans. it has a sunroof that leaks. what do yall think? should i buy em or not?

Hell yes. If for no other reason than to swap motors and sell. The scrap will get your money back.

yea i think ill pick em up and swap motors. i wanna cut the back off and have a river waggon.

Jump on that man!

Good find!

OF COURSE. Even if you buy them and do nothing with them, they will sell for triple as they sit.

haha im just a beginning mechanic, but its perty easy to swap motors and stuff aint it?

Yeah, just unbolt it all, pull it out, put it back in and bolt it all back up! lol

It should be rather easy, especially going from one BII to another.

Do you have tools?

haha yea i got a toolbox full of tools. worked as a part time "mechanic" last summer. did oil changes and sht like that. but bad news is...i think i blew up my ranger:shok::annoyed:. ill tell yall bore about it later

ok yall driving home my truck started to heat up, then it cooled down. then after driving 7 miles it dies, smoke was coming out of the hood...and i was pissed off lol. got it started again and it was running really rough. it was out of antifreeze and i got into town and id slow down and loose all oil pressure till i got moving again. 2 blocks away it died again and wouldent start. any ideas? cracked head? heater coil? why was it losing oil pressure?

Engine swap ease is relative. It can be a pain due to rusted out bolts, parts, etc. Sometimes there are subtle changes you'll run into as well.. There are little tricks to stuff sometimes, like for example seating a torque converter in an automatic trans. A lot of people seem to have a lot of problems getting to the bell housing bolts, just stuff like that.

Check your oil for coolant.. As for "it wouldn't start", was the starter able to turn the engine over? Can you turn the engine over by hand with a 1/2 breaker bar or socket wrench?

Pete

Edit:
If you do put the new(?) '86 engine into the '90 listed in your profile; this is a good example of it not necessarily being a direct drop in. The '86 has EGR and the '90 doesn't. You'll want to swap the upper intake plenums (sensors and all) and use the '90 exhaust manifolds.
