Guys, does the 2.9L use a grounding strap from the back of one of the cylinder heads to the firewall? If so, where on the firewall? Been away from project for years now and forgetting basic stuff

Here's where it goes on my '87. Hmm... it looks like there may actually be red paint under that black/brown firewall .

Yes, drivers side head(on the back) to firewall

You need Battery Negative to engine block, biggest ground wire(cable) because it is used for starter motor and alternator, 50-100amps

Then smaller ground wire from battery to Rad support(headlights and horn), and jumper to metal inner fender(starter solenoid and relays)

Then Block to Frame metal, usually by a motor mount(taillights and fuel pump)

Then block/head to firewall(cab electrics)

All metal vehicle parts are painted first, then assembled, and many also have rubber washers, so never assume a metal part is a good ground, make it a good ground if in doubt
You can search a million posts and no one will say, "I had one too many grounds", lol
