2.9 to 3.0 Swap

I've got an 87 Ranger with a 2.9 and have spied out another 87 thats had a 3.0 put in it.If I was to swap the 3.0 into my Ranger is there anything that needs to be changed such as the ECM?

What year 3.0?

May as well put in a 4.0.

It's a 1991 engine.

The 4.0 would be far easier and cheaper. the 3.0 is NOT going to be a easy swap.
