2.9 starter relay wiring diagram

does anyone have a picture or maybe a diagram of what wires go where on the starter relay? my underhood wiring looks a mess. the PO hooked up the starter cable directly to the positive terminal on the battery...

Best bet would be to get a hold of a Helm Inc diagram, over kill for that but a good manual to have for the wiring diagrams. Cheap on Ebay, dealership can make copies of pages, hemlinc.com, etc. This would show you exactly what you need to know.

The red/light blue booted wire goes to the small terminal, that's signal from your key. Battery side gets battery power and probably most of whatever else is there that goes on the relay goes to the battery post. Hard to know what you're looking at without being there to see. The other post goes to your starter.
