I live in Iowa and not exactly made out of money, I blew my engine mudding and I can not find another 2.8L engine to replace it so I am wondering if a 2.9L would bolt right in.

It will bolt to the motor mounts and the tranny, but it is fuel injected unlike your 2.8 that's carbed. You are going to have to do a good amount of wiring and swap out the entire fuel system. If you are wanting to swap to fuel injected just swap in a 4l.

Can't I just get a conversion kit to revert it to carburated? And how would a 305 work with swapping it?

Don't think so, the aftermarket for the 2.8 and 2.9 is very very small.

A 305 will be some work, you would be better off using a 302

What about a 305 swap? theres one being sold here for 200 but I want to know what amount of work is going to be required.

i would go to a 4.0L, actually i am in the process right now. if you dont know how much work it would be, it is most likely more of task than you are equipped to take on. where do you live? i have the 2.8 that i took out of mine. i would give it to someone that needs it

wish you wernt so far in washington im in oregon

So swapping in a Chevy 305 is not going to be a lot of work?? You want to swap a 302 if you want a V8. There is tons of info on the swap and parts available. It still is a lot of work.

I live in Iowa and i just need to know what I need and what it is going to cost as I can figure out how to do it between my friend and I but we need to know where to start

If you are interested in a V8, I also think you would be better off finding a cheap 302. A lot of the parts needed for the conversion are off the shelf Ford parts. If your heart is set on a 305, start lookin in the V8 swap sub forum, I believe at least two users have a Chevy small block, one of them goes by blackwidow67.

You could also just pick up this 2.8: http://fargo.craigslist.org/pts/3653979748.html
