In my search for the unicorn late '70's v6 Pinto for the Duraspark converion, I'm wondering if I find one should I not go ahead and buy the entire engine if reasonably priced. Question is, why are the Pinto's rated at like 90hp while the B-II 2.8L is rated at 115hp. Must be something different. Anyone know the differences before I buy and store a boat anchor?

Thanks,
Tim

Don't know what the differences are but they are going to be minor, that is only 25 hp. Don't forget the Mustang II used the 2.8 with a carb also.

I dont know the difference either, but that is a 28% difference. I'm sure that will be felt.

I am sure it would be felt, but it is most likely a minor change in compression ratio and or camshaft. I don't think they were under the strict emissions regulations like we were at that time over here.

Look up four eyed pride forum and do some searching. The early fox body guys know a lot about that vintage 2.8.

I believe there are some changes to the heads between a pinto vs later ranger/bronco 2 2.8.
