2.8 liter TBI swap

I'm not doing work on the body till spring but while I'm here whats the best way to fix cab corners, I know a website that sells them for 20 bucks a corner. I'm trying to aviod using alot of body filler. I'm not going for a professional job but something that will last awhile, and not till I get rid of my truck because I will never get rid of it.

And If I won the lottery I would still drive my ranger.

I would use an old hood cut out pieces and weld them on while using the heat from welding and a body hammer to shape it... and use weld thru primer so it will last longer.. grind down the welds and wipe a little body filler... or buy the cab corners and use only what you need... such as the bottom half.

wait did you say your dana 30 has a clear diff cover??

Yes it came with a clear cover and I'm going to use it. Why buy an OEM metal one for $30 bucks when there is nothing wrong with this one. I had a Dana35 clear cover but it was fogging up and had hairline cracks all over it as compared to this one which looks new.:D

More pictures....I'll have more by the end of the day hopefully of the new stud installed.

Ya what do you do if you need six? LOL, ya the parts store I went to is pepboys they were the only ones that sold them separately but I never get vehicle parts there because they are way over priced.

Well from the e-mail for the place I got the shims from I should be receving them tomorrow hopefully then I have to get my bro-in-law to brings the tools over to get it set-up. As for when it gets put under the truck, well everybody's guess is as good as mine. My dad is now behind my decision to do this now. Just wait for the steering linkage to show up, the guy is having a hell of a time trying to find a box to put it in, UPS didnt have a box big enough for it.

Well I going to try to make brakets for my drag links, I'll post pictures of what I'm going to try to make. The thing is I have leaf springs that are .25 inches thick (poor mans flat steel) so I got to think why cant I use them? Ya I know that leaf springs are temperd steel and yadda yadda yadda bla bla bla. But I figured why not, I have nothing to lose. Still waiting on my steering linkage, liftedredranger is having a hell of a time trying to find a box for it, UPS doesnt have a big enough box!!!! Got my shim kit, pictures of them are on. Thanksgiving is coming up, hunting and other stuff so progress has slowed down plus just had my 21st birthday on the 19th.

happy b day. i suggest you post a link to the page 12 so people can click it and jump to pictures in each update post.
just would make life easier. i've been savin money for mod's on my go cart so not much done on my ranger besides gettin the topper on for winter. havin a hard time gettin one of those aluminum wheels... also i've been investing in tools and i fixed my friends gm and im takin on side carpentry jobs for extra money for this trip im goin on. hopin to get to do somethin fun like cave dive or jump off a cliff into water or somethin... so should be fun...
i really just wanna get it over so i can start pouring all my cash into this baby and get her tip top for some v8 action. maybe i'll get something else to drive and do some rediculous engine mod... i like stupid crazy engine mods cause they can always be finished. where as if you go towards body mods you can get everything hacked up and have no idea what to do. end of project.
my plan is to dump 10 g's and make it a truck i'll keep for my kids to one day inherit...
ps good to hear somethings happening. life is busy im sure

Have fun jumping off a cliff.......into water would be best IMO!!!!!!!!!

Heres a link to page 12, where the pics. are.

Well Monday night dad and I drove my truck around the city block a few times and now I know, or at least think, I know what needs done. Has some but not much hesitation when trying to accelerate, might be getting just a touch to much of fuel so a new fuel regulator may be in my future. Had the hanging idle needs to be fixed too. when you push in on the clutch it takes longer then you would want for it to idle back down. Other then that runs like a bat out of hell!!!!! I need to mount the computer back up to its braket and a couple of other things but at least it drives!!!!

cool...
btw i dunno if the link is necessary now but if your thread gets toi be really long it might be annoying...
maybe you should start a new thread for the sas part, since this one is labelled 2.8 tbi swap so people lookin for info on sas d30's probably might skip right over it.
oh and yes into water is the plan, but ya never know. haha

More pics.!!!!

I'm more worried about my TBI swap being known then my SAS. I'm not a person that you want to get much info from at the moment but I'll see if I can get the title of my build thread changed to "My TBI swap and D30 SAS".
