2.8 liter TBI swap

the 2.8 is coming back.

that made me chuckle. the "lug bolt" is called a wheel stud, if you need to ask for one at a parts store, try a wheel shop, they typically have em cheap!
also, why dont you change out the 7.5 with 4.56's instead??? they would be WAY better, especially if you plan on running bigger tires (which with the minimum 6" of lift with a SAS it would look stupid if you didn't)
and the jeep i have is quite a ways away. prolly cheaper to buy a set here then to go get em. i want 44's. and big tires too. and lots of ponies. the more i think about it the more i wanna keep my truck and get rid of BB, and SAS my blue 2wd and 7.3 diesel swap the thing. imagine a 7.3 turbo diesel sas ranger. i would kill for it and it aint that outta reach. but i gotta get a new DD and get rid of some projects. like NOW. which is why the exploder is up for sale. and as soon as i get the 89 i bought im figuring that out too. SO. maybe if the 89 has a good 2.9 ill scrap BB and make a decent 4x4 to either DD or use as a trade in. im lookin at gettin this:
http://www.taylorautogroup.ca/en/usedcars/listing/details.spy?id=2941114
but i might have to trade my blue 2wd off to get it. and i really like my blue 2wd. its sentimental.

Well to late for the D35, started tearing it apart, just having a hell of a time getting the axles out due it not having C-clips but was told how to ge them out. 4.56's are great but I have no reason for them, its just to low of gears for me, I'll stick with 3.73's all I have to do is ell the parts, put 3.73's in my D30, get the rest of the stuff on my list and it ready for SAS, hell might be able to sell my D28 TTB for a few bucks when I get it out.

I've read that doing a 2wd to 4wd is easier said then done. Read you have to change out cross members. I would keep Old Blue and BB but sence BB is already 4wd your a step ahead of yourself there, sorta. I would do the mods to BB and leave Old Blue alone due to it being in the family so long. Now if the 89 is better then BB, then toss BB and use it for the mods.

I love crew cab trucks and diesel trucks too but I would never give up my truck for one.

tis where you and i differ. due to the weak nature of the black 4x4, i have decided its not worth restoring. and 4x4 swapping is no harder than SASing and if im swapping in a v8 be it diesel or not its gonna be way harder than a 4x4 conversion. im not just gonna change my blue truck to a 4x4 unless im doin major stuff to it. cause i dont have a 4x4 tranny, tcase and drivshafts, and i dont wanna sink that money into a truck that doesn't really run that great anyways. im gonna buy a newer truck as soon as i can, and i'll buy another ranger eventually. rangers are in my blood. lol
ok. so i wanna see some progress. cmon. i been workin on my blue truck a bit so CMON haha. just kiddin take yer time. i know how it is

Got the Detroit locker torn out but cant get the ring gear off so im selling it and the 4.56 gears for $350 on a jeep sight (ya thats a steal for whoever gets it), just need to get the Flat priority box for it before selling it and to make shipping easier. As soon as that is sold, new gears, seals, and steering linkage for the Dana 30 and it will be put under my truck!!!!!!

Your right mabey BB isnt worth the money. Get rid of the sploder, BB and the 89 and you will be set to get the truck you want.

im gonna get rid of BB once i strip it and try and sell what i can off it.
then its to the wreckin yard for it. it can sit by my 2wd. maybe ill keep the front shaft for later. ;)
and im keepin the tranny and t-case for later also. and some body parts and the power windows and locks assembly's. \
also im pissed off cause we havent had a chance to get this stupid 89 home, cause the driveways cluttered. maybe lowering the price on the sploder aint a bad idea. its at 2500 OBO so maybe i can put it at 2400 or so and get some bites. nothin so far. UGH
AND this stupid jeep is STILL in our driveway, and the stupid roadrunner is still hoggin the HEATED (WOO) garage. at least the heat in the garage works VERY well. we're hopfully adding to our garage so maybe we'll have room for a project truck soon...
perhaps this will be in my trucks future:

So you going to convert it to 4wd then or keep it 2wd? I like the orange not a bad color.

Where do you go to edit pictures like that?

As for the sploder, you might get 1500 out of it, in american dollars that is. My sister got hers for 700 and that only thing wrong with it was the body was rotting out in a few areas. Now the electric 4wd doesnt work and she doesnt care but if it was mine it would be working ASAP.

Mabey I'll have my parts sold soon and get my SAS going. Know anybody that needs some 2.3 liter engine parts, I'm parting one out, cheap too, plus has low miles.

if i lift im goin 4x.
i got koda to chop it. in the photo-shop forum. i also have seen some decent exploders go for that, and the bodys pretty dam good. i need the cash bad. and the 4x4 works very good.
if i sell the sploder maybe ill put away some money for a 4x4 swap/SAS. im gonna take the tranny/tcase outta BB and check em out. see if they need work or are worth saving. i like the auto eshift 4x4. its very nice to have. plus if i SAS i will prolly spend less than a lift and have 4x4. if it was already 4x4 wouldn't bother cause it might cost more than a lift and the d28 is only a tiny bit weaker than the d30. so no big deal. im just goin for clearance and 4x4 traction. plus i have a L/S waiting. i'll just look for a d30 with the right gears there are tonnes around.

What gears are you looking for? Mine has 4.56 and I'm looking for 3.73 for my D30 and need them to be cheap. The cheapest I have found are $187 bucks from Yukon Gears.

As for gong 4x4, awsome!!!!! If I was putting that much work into converting to a 2wd to 4wd it would have a SAS done instead of going for a factory look TTB. Plus a coil D30 is basiclly a bolt on thing and everything lines up.

I read a guy who did this to his 98 truck and used the D30 and its original components and got it all to work nicely for him. He had to fab a few things but thats no biggy.

Right now your like me, cant do much until you sell some stuff!!!!

true that. i need another DD before i sas my blue 88. 187 bucks for brand new gears? i'd pay that. unless i could find a whole diff with the right gears

I'd pay it too but if I can find cheaper I'll do that too...even slightly used ones.

Set-up.....thats what my brother in law is for, hes a mechanic he said he would help. He has all the tools for the job.

Also since he is a certified welder I'll be having him do all the welding for my SAS, he said he would since I gave him a place to deer hunt.
