2.8 liter TBI swap

I'm more worried about my TBI swap being known then my SAS. I'm not a person that you want to get much info from at the moment but I'll see if I can get the title of my build thread changed to "My TBI swap and D30 SAS".

but i really think this whole posting pics to an old post is really pointless and inconvienient. guess thats just my .02 tho
 
I just want to keep it organized, one big post on how im going it. Part 2 will be on another page when I get to that point. As for progress, leaving for thanksgiving and after that have to ship stuff out and get more welding gas.
 
Well couldnt just let the thought sit in my head so I had to do it. I'm not finished but you get the idea. This is just the first two hours. Was I going for a hot rod look...yes...is my truck a hot rod....no....but in my eyes its hot rod.

Heres the pretty version of my lower arm bracket. As for the upper I have nove no clue where to hook them to so I dont have a design yet but if it ever warms up, ya right, then I'll be able to take messurements and design something. I hate going into a project and not having a design or clue as to what I am doing.

Good thing about this program, it helps me know where to drill my holes at and mabey make a template too so everything will line up properly. I'm making my SAS set-up too and it may not look like a D30 and what not but the messurements are accurate so when I get that done I'll post it up too.

...........and after taping up the letters and spraying some black over it and pealing off the tape you get the finished product and non of that ugly over spray and what not.

Thanks. I'm trying to find stuff to do on my truck. Can't do major things due to winter. As you can see in my picture i still need to get a long enough hose for me breather vent so it can hook to my filter housing. I still need to hook up my manual oil guage, have to get more copper line for that. I still have a bunch of little things on my truck to do but in the cold they feel like big things. I want to get my D30 put together so when it is spring I'll be ready to throw it under my truck.

btw i dunno why u keep embracing the wanna be 2.9 i'll race u anyday and shop u what real FI is. i'd even put money on my 2.9
 
Yaaa your right. You need an excuse to put a v-8 in your truck, so racing mine will help blow yours up. You MAAAAY cross the line first, but mine will drive home. Theres a reason why the 2.9 was replaced with the 4.0 and 3.slooooww. The only reason why I dislike the 2.9 is because of the heads on them. I see to many of them with head problems. Other then that, its a great engine and it was fords first true FI for the ranger.

Well drag race on solid ground and then drag race in mud. In the end, we will tie, more or less. Engine size doesnt get you through mud.

if engine size dont matter in mud how come all mud trucks have like super high horsepower engines? huh? HUH? haha but yes, u would go home but.... dam i havent got anything. heads are the only problems mine HASN'T had
 
They need a big engine to put out a lot of TORQUE to turn the huge mud tires.

Status report for my truck.......

The power draw is worse then ever, cold weather isnt helping me. Went and took it out for a 3 minute drive and it looks like diesel going down the road, burning rich so I need to get a fuel regulator, if continued to run this way I will be looking at a new o2 sensor and CAT. Its giving the amount of fuel a 3.8 needs, not a 2.8. Has excellent throttle responce. Need to figure out what the clunck sound is when shifting into 2nd gear. And of course the hanging idle.

What your truck does have that mine doesnt and will never have is an extended cab. I could put an extende cab on mine but then I would have to put a short bed on mine which I dont want so I'll live with what I've got.

the only thing my ex cab is good for right now is puttin the guns in cause of the subs, which once things get better will be leaving my truck. possibly goin in a new one! haha
