2.8 liter TBI swap

I just took time to read your whole post. Did it once back a few months ago looking for TBI info for my 84 2.8 B2. I will be checking out your dad's thread for details. My motorcycle is my DD because my 2.8's carb shit the bed. Have to ask though, what kind of bike?

My motorcycle is a 1982 Yamaha XJ1100. But it doesnt look factory anymore, dad converted it to solo seat, ape hanggers, etc before I got it Ill gets pics of it on here to show off but needs washed first.

As for other things, might be building a front diff guard since im going to be using a clear diff cover and also for good looks to but still deciding on a design.

Well did a fuel system mod, only costed me $10, and i noticed a difference in throttle responce, accelertion, etc... My dad was first to do this mod. My fuel pressure went from 44psi ish to 75psi, due to me retricting the fuel flow a bit........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ok during this right-up went to get milk and had my new fuel line explode on me a had a truck fire, just a few things damage like the new PCV valve you see in the picture, used to help with the oil comming out my dipstick problem just bought and put all this on today, good thing I wasnt far from home, 3 blocks to be exact. Hdd my little brother with me at the time, had him run home while I sat at my truck when I got the fire put out, had the cops there and fire truck, costed $40 to get her home again.

The fuel line I'm using is ACE Hardware rated at 200psi for fuel systems and as you see it failed in less then 10 miles of driving. Taking it to them tomorrow to tell them to take it off the shelf.

Here the pictures of it all......

Damn that sucks. :bawling: What did you use to put out the fire? I have a small fire extinguisher I keep in the truck.

Good thing it didn't do any more damage then that.

I used the milk and my shirt to put out the fire. But yes today it was determined that my dad and I are going to carry fire extinguishers in our trucks.

Good news it runs and drives again, brand name fuel line this time. Bad news put me back $40 bucks and need to scrub the soot off the engine and the milk. Lowerd the fuel pressure a bit but doesnt run or drive as good as it did so going to put it back where it was but do that slowly and see where my MPG's are with this set up.

And my dad changed out his fuel line too after seeing what happen to mine, he was running the same brand fuel line, best to be safe then sorry.

Im still scared a bit to drive her but I'll regain my confidence back soon enough.

Well as I said, got my 63 inch Chevy leaves for only $100, they took them off for me and found a couple of rangers with recivers so thats next on the to get list, dad wanted one so I thought about it and found another with it (the truck that I got the front guard off of has one).

As you see have the bolts soaking in PB buster, they will be doing that for awhile, had the people tourch the leaves off for time sake.

My dad still thinks I'm nuts for doing this swap. I'm not nuts, I'm dedicated.

I jus spent the last hour or so reading this build and its inspiring! I too have an affinity for polishing turds! To make something great outta nothin is the best-specially now when times are so tough

- From now on when I see a show truck on the road - instead of thinking "douche" I'll laugh and think "They'll never understand what its like to put out a truck fire with a gallon of milk and a t-shirt" I had to put out a fire on my first car with a pitcher of lime kool-aid (make that flavo-aid) Keep up the good work!!

My truck is all I have, I lose it, it would be like losing a child too me. What was worse I was on a busy road and nobody pulled over to help me.

Polishing a turd maybe, but its my truck to polish.

Thats the way it is. Nobody stops to help but I bet most of them would expect help if they were the ones in trouble.

Not a cut on yer rig. I was actually quoting you from waaay back in the beginning of yer thread. Like you, my truck is all I own too.

Oh I was complementing you, people can say what they want about my truck, I could careless, not like they own it. I tell them after they dis on it to buy me a new truck then, they say no I tell them to STFU then. Sad part is, its more then what they own.

In other news, anybody know an easy way how to take out leaf spring bolts that are at the ends, soaking them in PB Buster in hopes that will help.

I had to press mine out with the shop press and a little help from a torch.

Got two bolts out, one from each leaf pack, PB Buster works wonders, though I ran out. Probably going to have to make a press to get the other two out.

Only things I nee to get now are the long arms, brakes, shocks (having a heck off a time with finding shocks), brake lines and extra cash for whatever comes up.

I waited to get shocks till the end of the build. I didn't know exactly how long the shocks had to be untill I had it all together and measured.
Wait till you get it together before ordering shocks. If you get them from Summit they allways get them to me the next day or two.

I just got some fantastic lift shocks from JeffsBroncoGraveyard for cheaper than the monroe gas-matics I took off. I think I paid 32 a piece for them... Check out the link http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/c-1047-ranger-shocks-jbg.html
