2.5 to 3.0

Ok sorry didnt see post I bought a 98 manual pcm will try when get home

Ok so a big thank you to all and ron d for the advice I put the 98 pcm in an whole and behold she runs under her own power it was the one qith 2 wire cam position senser with dual fuel also I have another question yes I know its bad for the enviroment and all that but I am runnin the cats rodded out and exhaust cut after the cat now my big question how will this affect my ???? Ive herd that it will burn valves but my 2.5 ran the same way for a year till the timing jumped and slapped valves

Contrary to popular belief cats have no effect on performance either way.
But it is a Federal offense(not state, federal) to modify or remove them, $2,500 fine

'99 Ranger 2.5l is a non-interference engine so valves and pistons don't share space in the cylinder, so not sure how valves were "slapped" from bad timing belt.
So 2.5l might be OK

Thanks for the info will definately be runnin the rodded cats and I bent em the 2.5 has the belt when it let go I was runnin about 3500 rpm and the belt frayed jumpin the timing an finaly breakink completely
