2.5 and 2.3 lima engine compatibility

The engines are almost identical, can they be swapped without changing pcm? Are there any parts differences? Only thing I found was the 2.5 coolant sending unit is in a different location

I have a 2.5 and found a 97 2.3 for 100 bucks that I may get for parts and save for a replacement

1995-2001 2.3l and 2.5l Lima engines are interchangeable, yes, same PCM can be used with either

2.5l has a different crank and connecting rods, other than that the block, head, and pistons are the same

1989-1994 2.3l used a different crank sensor setup, so very hard to swap between 1994/1995 divide with these
