2.3 turbo tranny options?

I'm at the research stage of a possible 2.3turbo into a international scout 80 swap and looking into ideas for a tranny/x-fer case. The scouts original slant 4 has seen better days and I started looking into swapping in a fuel injected engine with a little more power. In my usual fashion I headed to the garage with a case of beer and started weighing my v8 options before I remembered that I own a ragged out merkur with a good motor. My ideal setup would be 5speed manual with hydraulic clutch, manually actuated 4x4 with curb side output. I have plenty of experience adapting engines and trannies but a bolt together option is always the preferred method. I feel like this would be a very practical swap and is an opportunity to swap one of my all time favorite power plants into one of my favorite trucks. Thanks for your help.

If you can find a '87/88 thunderbird Turbocoupe with a manual tranny (or the tranny from one) it'll be a world class T5 with I believe a hydraulic clutch, you will most likely be able to find a passenger side drop case for the back of it...

All of the Ranger trannies are set up for the BW 1350/1354 which is a driver side drop case

i was kind of assuming that the transfer case would be the bottleneck. unless someone comes up with an idea for a transfer case, i might need to get all the parts in front of me and start looking into making an adapter. divorced tcase is not an option i would like to persue. i wonder what atlas has to offer?

I found a navak adapter to mate the 2.3 turbo to my t90 three speed in my scout. It looks easy enough that if I have a piece of scrap aluminum big enough I might just machine it myself though. Also found an overdrive that goes on the t18 transfer case so I can get the girl up to highway speeds. Just gotta get a few more items on my wife's honey do list done and I will start making chips. Oh and before I forget, I blew up the turbo on my merkur (hot side) and need to find a replacement. Any suggestions on a good replacement turbo?
