2.3 "clacking" under load or snapping the throttle

does it lack power? i've worked on a motorhome that did that. the cat was plugged and the "clacking" which i thought was the valve train grenading actually turned out to be immense pressure being forced out of the exhaust manifold.

it only did it under load after a minute or two of driving... just saying

I had the same exact noise, with it not going away like the other guys. Turned out to be a worn bearing.

you know i had a similar sound...sorry HAVE a similar issue. BUT mine seems to happen when i'm accelerating early in each gear then as i go faster it goes away. And when i let off the throttle a little bit it will tick untill i gas it again. Hope its nothing serious i just had the engine tore apart and replaced a bunch of stuff so it would suck.
