Anyone out there with the rare 2.2 Diesel Ranger? I would like to find some parts and like to see photos and videos if anyone has any. Here is a video of the truck when i first got it out of the junkyard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFTI3RUvt8k I since switched the engine, tranny, wiring harness, fuel tank, Fuel lines, Engine stands, cross memebers, made a driveshaft and ALLLLL of the other stuff i had to do to stick the diesel in a gas ranger body.

i got an 86, stock turbo diesel. i can t find manuals or info on it to save my life, so if you do , keep me informed!

On that 86 do you have an automatic? How is it working for you?

There is a 2.2 truck posted here for sale now ...

I do not have a diesel but have you tried LMC truck ? What kind of mileage do you get with the diesel ?

I know exactly where you can find a manual! I talked to the Ford dealership 3 days ago and they gave me the phone # to the place that they order there manual from. So these are Ford Dealership Manuals! These are 100 times better than Chiltons or Haynes manuals. I called about one for my 83 Diesel and they said they had it in stock for $40 and it covers the engine, tranny, suppesion, and rear axle. They had another for wiring and vacum for $13. This manual covers ONLY the 2.2 Diesel in 83, and 84 so you don't have to look through a bunch of uselessness to find what you need for your paticular truck. There phone # is 800 782 4356 Its called Helm Publishing. Anybody got some pics of there diesel rangers i would love to see them. BTW I get around 33 MPG I was getting 25 and i turned the fuel down on it. I can turn it down some more so i am hoping to get around 40 MPG. Thanx, Garry

I got the engine and tranny in the new truck. KEEP meaning to get a video of it and post it on you tube. Really really cool little truck. The best part is everybody at the gas stations looking at you really strange while you are at the diesel pump.

Re: 2.2 diesel ranger

hi 2.2, here is my '84 gasser with the '83 2.2 prior to 1 gallon of red acrylic and the diesel badges. May be you've seen the 'post' pic on the mazda diesel related forums.
How is the XLT coming? I'm interested to see pics.
Mine was a [somewhat] simple swap - bolt in more or less. I haven't been very impressed with millage lately, I have to admit. Dizel is expensive! I suppose that indicates a fault somewhere.
I came online to see if anyone had insights into routing lines to the bed for veggie oil tank w/out drilling holes.
Did you happen to acquire the wiring and vacuum manuals? If so would you be interested in sharing these on TRS tech?
I have a few parts in case you are hard up for something.

hey 1983dieselranger i saw your video on youtube a few months ago and was wondering what the stack exhaust looks like, and if you could get some pics for us. thanks

yeah the manuals on alldata don't give you any idea of what you're buying....

anyone know what the 2.2L engine was rated at from the factory ? i put mine on the dyno a few weeks ago as a joke ( a quad went 66hp) i made 47hp and 89ftpounds of tourqe at 3000 rpm...

I have the 87 Ranger/BII shop manual from Ford (Helm actually) and it covers the diesel engine in detail.

Let me know if you can't find anything, and I can photocopy the engine section for you.

Yeah, Full Helm shop manuals are the way to go. Hve you considered converting it to run on Veggie Oil???
