2.0 needs more power

I think you may have interference issues...i've never measured that....remember these motors are made to survive a "broken belt issue" w/o interference....you gotta be careful for that..or be prepared for the consequences

these pistons have valve pockets...

You could mix'n match

quite a bit as long as you keep in mind the 2.o/2.3 is built as a non interferance motor...(when the timing belt brakes the valves won't get in the way of the pistons)...in stock form....(there are pockets cut in the pistons for protruding valves)..I don't think the 2.0 pistons would allow that in fact the valves may come close to the smaller bore actually...never measured that..

that is just for the stock cams with stock lift...i don't have any 2.0 pistons at the moment to check...I used to

Anyway when you get into higher lifts cams..etc..you have to check clearance or be prepared for issues if you have a "beltdown" (broken belt)

with 200,000miles I would consider a rebuild.
the block, crank, and rods are the same as a 2.3 but the bores are smaller.
you could have the bore opened up to the same as a 2.3 and use a piston for a 2.3.
as for the headthe valves on the 2.0 are smaller but you could always have a 3 angle valve job done.
try this link for installing a weber on the two barrel intake:

and for a cam try these guys:

I hope the pics uploaded lol.these are pics of my intake manifold n card.is this the intake manifold you were talking about?

K I think I got it this time lol

If you mean

The manifold I was talking about....I have a pic of one of mine that isn't cleaned up..I'll try to insert for a sample...To this you could directly bolt a 2100 Holley..or use the egr adapter and but on a Weber..I'l try to include a pic of stock ford adapter that came ...as well and a pic of it installed as it came on an older motor i had bought some time ago...you may still see the Holley/ Weber 5200 that it came with..a 32/36 variety that i have since rebuilt..Sorry no cleaner pic of it at this time...

I have a few more pics of different varieties..but maybe this will get you started..

K so are they hard to fine?ty for all the help.hey would I be able to bore my 2.0 up to a 2.3 n use 2.3 pistons

the headbolts

are 13MM. And the 12pt hex ones can be re-used.

about boring the block..i would have to say I'm not sure..Some have said yes, some no. It may depend on the casting series of the block?...I had an "86" 2.0 block from a Ranger that i stripped..and the casting seemed similar to a Turbo coupe block w/o the drilled oil hole...since i already had a TC block i didn't keep it. I would ask the folks that race these 2.0L's

Racer Walsh, and maybe Esslinger.....they have web addresses..and are listed in the Tech library. If it could be done i imagine more would do it..especially for turbo use cuz there are a lot of Original Turbo forged piston/rods that are "standard"..with no available o'size stock pistons which were preferred ....I have a set..just no good "standard block"..

if your block has a cast nubbin on the passenger side in the middle about halfway back...don't toss it till u find out...The pic I include will show the oil drain boss w a tapped hole..

some good info..

Best wishes....

Best wishes....

here also is a good sight for info....mostly turbo stuff but the engine basics are there...

This is the exact intake and adapter that I have on my truck...but I run the Motorcraft 5200...it came out of a 1978 Mustang II, but I had a heck of a time finding information on the Mustang using this carb...guess someone put it on after...but the adapter you show here is the same on mine...so it must be the Ford stock item...

After researching this a while ago, it came up that the intake is an "Offenhauser type" or "Offy" type intake...Esslinger had them listed for sale a while ago but I haven't been to their site for a while...(just checked and couldn't find it available)...

I guess the Weber Licensed Holly 5200 is a Motor-craft officially isn't it?..I have one and some parts now for a second maybe

Good to hear form you Mark having a great blessed day i hope...

I actually bought some things at an estate sale a cple years ago that included most of my 2.3L stuff..a Racer here locally passed away and had been collecting a few "special" things..and one of my heads was parts of that buy...the other was a complete 74' Pinto motor with the manifold and carb..i have since bought another manifold..and head circa"79"...

about the manifold..I just notice an e-bay auction where one sold in the 50$ range+ shipping..

I ran across a Ford pdf that gave some info on serial #'s for various things including info for casting numbers on early 2.3's Interesting...It is a big file ythat i can't upload here...but if any is interested i could e-mail you....

1.7mb

How's that 5200 workin out?

Is it doin a good job?..i seem to remember you were having some flooding issues some time back?..with maybe a fuel pressure issue?..I'm asking cuzi still haven't decided which way to go with the engine i'm building for my B2..either EFI or carbed w the 5200 and the BIG VALVE version of the 79 Pinto head i just got back from having large valves put in. Just so happened that a friend had the valves...and the cutter to mod them ..the block will be a "94" .040 over.
