searched around and couldn't find anything that helped...
i would appreciate any pointers or even a point in the right direction to the answer to my problem.
shifting into/out of park, reverse, and neutral is normal, but D, 2, and 1 are a different story...
a while back i shifted from drive to reverse and back way too hard and way too many times in a 4x4 competition. i was so pumped on ripping my truck around that i didn't realize that i was just slamming the tranny into gear with my foot to the floor... bad idea.. oops
so now when i shift into first or drive, nothing happens, it acts as if it is in neutral. when i shift into 2 on the coulomb it actually goes into gear. so to drive my truck i shift into 2 to start going, and once i am i shift into D and it shifts through the gears normally. makes me think the tranny is fine and the shifter or linkage is messed up somewhere.

has anyone else had this problem and solved it?
or does anyone know of a link to something that may help?
thanks to anyone who can help

Hmmm? Not to sure. Dont have much experience with automatics but it doesn't sound right. Have u tried to adjust the shift linkage? Checked the fluids? Try pulling the pan and see if there are anything broken sitting in the pan...

sorry i forgot to say i have already changed the fluid and there was no metal debris of any kind. also there wasn't a whole lot of time in between fluid changes so it still looked pretty good.
haven't touched the linkage though, guess thats what i should go for next...

just went and checked the linkage, all seems fine to me. had my buddy shift through the gears and i looked underneath and saw it shift seemingly fine. but it still wont go into gear.
hopefully someone has got some pointers...

Sorry, don't know what it could be.
