can the valves be adjusted on the 99 4.0 engine? if so where is a any info? if not, then what do i do? im hearing some valve noise and want to get it resolved

Well, the 4.0 OHV is known to have poor lubrication to the tops of the rocker arms and the tips of the pushrods. Your best best is to pull the valve cover and check or replace your pushrods. How many miles are on the truck? Does it make noise all the time?

to answer your question you cant really adjust them. Pushrods are fairly cheap, also take note to the wear on the valve side of the rockerarm. Pitting and uneven contact will cause the valves to load heavily on one side and cause the valve stem seals to fail. If so just get the whole rocker assemblie from a picknpull.

182000 miles roughly. it makes noise on idle when its warm and when you left off of the gas from hard acceleration. but under load and cruising along its ok. wheres a good place to buy new pushrods? i did some reading i heard this is kinda common on these motors. other then that issue its been the best truck ive owned. doesnt smoke and barely uses any oil.

Your 4.0 Ranger has hydraulic roller cam followers (lifters) and you don't adjust hyd. lifters. The pitting on the valve side is very common. About right for your mileage. The rattle when you lift is an indicator to me that it is your real problem. More so, in my experience, than the pushrod problem. The pushrod problem is caused from poor scheduled maintenance; with the understanding that it too is a weak point for 4.0's. Pay attention to Bird - the Delta Cam stuff is tried and true.
