1998 Ranger XLT 4x4

thats one dirty muddy nice truck:D looking nice, and wtf was that mirage doing?? that aint evolution:icon_rofl:
i buffed my rims today, check my rims thread:icon_thumby:

The truck was dirty. And my buddy wants you to know it's an Eagle Summit. A rebadged chrylser that was rebadged as an Eagle:icon_rofl:

The truck is looking great! I like it better without all the stickers, especially the spider man ones. Who puts that on a truck?:icon_confused:
If you like to play in the mud you are gonna have to keep wrenching on your toy and it will cost a lot of money. It's a good thing you can do quite a bit yourself though. Keep up the good work.:icon_thumby:

Yeah I get that, I don't mind spending money on my Ranger as much as I did my old car. This one has done enough work for me since I got it.

So my buddy checks out this thread and saw out your post. He laughed pretty good. It's funny cause it's true:D

Its not good for the electronic T case to be switched at speeds above 45... Technically it should be switched when at a slow roll or dead stop...

Nice Truck BTW! :icon_thumby:

Yep, I'm not shifting ever again while rolling. And the T-case is 45 MPH which is about 88 KPH. I was rolling at around 30 MPH so it should've been OK.

So I've been rattling around the idea of putting in a manual t-case in my truck. Probably a 1354 like it has got now. Any of you guy know the more random details like wehere I'm going to need to cut the hole in my floor and the complexity of the operation?

At work today I was looking at an '06 Ranger and noticed that the new spring packs have one more leaf. So I look under mine and find... a broken leaf. Right now I have it back in the pack (luckily it is a middle one) and I'm using a hose clamp to hold it in the pack for now. It is bolted at the hanger end. This isn't too great but it is much safer than the ductape my buddy has on his truck leaves. I'm pricing out springs now, I'm thinking of getting newer style ones to increase payload a bit. Ride quality is already shite so no big deal.

So here is my question for you guys. Do I clean up my Ranger, sell it off and cut my losses? Or do I buck up, drop some serious bills and fix it up into the machine it wants to be?

fix it up rangers are money pits throw it in the hole youll be glad you did ive wrecked mine twice fixed it and still goin with no problems cept for those dam sensors lol freakin water and mud

Yeah I'm really thinking of just fixing it and keeping it for a long time. I was mostly just shooting the breeze but I guess I just need a second opinion:icon_thumby:

So I ordered a set of leaf springs from a welding shop in town. They are heavier duty than the standard ones. And cheaper than the exact replacements from both Ford and the spring shop. One more leaf but cheaper! They have less arc angle but won't sag as much under the truck's weight and give me an extra 150 lbs payload. That isn't to much stiffer so flex and rider hopefully won't be affected too much. I still have to put on my Ranchos and now I am looking at a set of Duff Traction bars to seriously build the back end.

I am asking a question again. How do all of your trucks behave in the cold or humid weather. My puffs out what looks like an awful lot of smoke but I can't tell what is condensation and what is burning oil. It does die right down when the truck is heating up though so I don't know. Describes like condensation but it feels dry and kind of smells. I've put the call out to some other people I know with 4L in hopes to build one and drop it in.

That's what I figured it just seened a little dry and smelly too me for some reason. I checked my oild and its gone down like 200ml since I topped it up 3 weeks ago so if there is no way that could be buring oil any ways, all my tuck does is one puff when it starts. then it's done burning oil.
