I asked my self that question a million times ((should I sell it or fix it)) too. But I tell myself "I searched for long time for a truck like this and whatever happens to it, its probably worth fixing it" unless its Rust... My 99 did a similar noise while in 4hi, but it never sropped running. Also the PVH stopped working when i got stuck one day and had to shovel the way out of the dirt, lol. But fixed it the next day, one of the hubs was stuck and didnt suck in like it suposed to... a little WD40 fixed the prob. Anywayz Nice truck man!! And I would say keep it and turn it into a beast, u wont regret it... Later!

That is exactly what I tell myself. I did some more work today and am thinking of writing uo a winter prep tech article. I'll post up some stuff here. My buddy the photographer came over so the shots are awesome:icon_thumby:

Just about done the winter prep article. Gotta upload all the pics to photobucket first so I'll get as much done as I can tonight an post up tomorrow,

And sometime this week I am buying a new JVC stereo to replace the flaky factory radio. It has the two main features I wanted, aux in and a removable faceplate to ward off asshats.

hey i got a 98 ranger aswell and my tcase motor is selective. if im in the snow and its almost stuck it goes into a neutral mod. and id say watch out what kind of hubs you get. my cousin owned my truck before me and baught these 300 dollar hubs. they tend to not be any bit water proof so ya gotta regularly greese the wheel bearings.

Yeah I got the AVM's and I am making sure when I finally get around to installing them I grease everything and coat them with some 5W20.

Did the tranny stopleak actually work to quiet the power steering? What brand stop leak did you use? Lucas or generic?

You were lucky getting the last JVC man, How much were the Manual Hubs?:icon_confused: My PVH are f**ked up too.:bawling:

$180 CAD with shipping. Not bad:icon_thumby: Especially considering how expensive replacements sketchy PVH hubs are:shok:.

It actually worked great. It quited it down a bit a sealed up the leak some too. The stuff I used wasn't Lucas but it wasn't generic. It's call "No-leak", it is made by the same company that makes Sta-Bil and Heet.

I found a thread where they are explaining what an XLT is and I made a list of all the stuff on my truck.

My '98 XLT has:
-Chrome bumpers and grill
-Power mirrors, windows & locks
-Sliding rear window
-Full cluster with tach
-Cruise control
-Stereo with both CD and cassette
-Carpet interior with cloth buckets & a console
-4.0L/5speed/4x4 2-Door SuperCab
-Towing & OffRoad package (Tow hooks, skid plates & hitch)
-Air conditioning
-Auxilary power port
-Fog lights

Think my truck is about as loaded as it could be:D

nice work man!! seems like u are clearing the bugs out of your truck, keep it and fix it, once u get it all done u wont regret it.
