If I was going ot upgrade my trackbar and mount, I would go with the trackbar that escort_gts has and a mount like his too.

I have a Rugged Ridge trackbar. It is for an xj with 6" lift. It worked fine on my other truck, but the 93 it has less lift and I had to shorten it by 1". Had to cut threads off the frame side to get it short enough cause it was bottoming out. It also has rubber bushings that need replaced. I would suggest getting the one that Rusty's has with the heim joints instead of the bushings.

I had one of these that came with my trackbar. There isn't enough frame to bolt it so you will have to weld it to the frame and you might have to weld some gusets to it also.

I designed my bracket off it.

I looked at this when I bought my Ruggid Ridge trackbar. This looks better than mine.
I suggest this one or the Rusty's.

Grinding away

I started disconnecting everything from steering to trackbar this past weekend. I took out the passenger side axle shaft in order to replace it...I figured going to the local junk yards to find the shaft I need....piece of cake...NOT! It turned out the only 4X4 jeep in the lot was a rust bucket...You couldn't pry those rusty bolts off to save your life. Almost gave myself a hernia trying. And..since this place does not allow anything from gas or electric tools it had to be done manually with sweat and tears...and torn ligaments. So needless to say it's still there in the yard with the parts still on it. Found another 4X4 1990 model in another junk yard...yes success...i thought.....think again...upon looking at it closely this jeeps axle had the exact same issue as the one I'm trying to replace. Apparently the 1990 model XJ Cherokees have axle shafts in them that wear out.....alot....on EVERY jeep made that year.

At any rate I'll keep looking. I'm grinding off the metal housing that was fabricated for the track bar now. Yeah....that's a pain in the a$$....Jeez we welded the crap out of that thing.

Why not just swap a one piece shaft in place of the two and plate the hole for the CAD.

Hmmmm. Ya know I haven't thought about replacing it as a whole....I'm wondering how much that would cost.

Not sure on what all is involved. I guess just an axle and a plate. ? My Dana 30 is from a 92 xj and didn't have the center axle disconnect.

You will have to take the diff apart and put a seal made for a one piece into it instead of after the CAD system where the two peice axle shaft seal is. Other then that it is that simple. A one piece shaft will slide in place of the two piece and you just make a plate to go over the hole.

As far as the diff being taken apart, as long as you dont take the pinion off, etc... you are fine with putting the carrier back in without needing to reset your pinion depth and whatnot.

Grinding and Cutting

I got the old track bar mount grinded out. I'm going to strengthen the frame a tad before I fabricate the new mount. Just for good measure.
