1998 Ranger 4 banger temp sending unit

I sold my '98 Ranger 4 banger to a neighbor (I replaced it with a 2010 Ranger). He needs to know the location of the temperature sending unit (where does it thread into the block?); we're not sure that the photo in the Chilton's manual is correct.
