1998 3.0L has no power!

All 3.0 long blocks are interchangeable. They did make some improvements to the blocks throughout the years by adding ribs and bracing to reduce vibration and increase strength. The Taurus engines seem to be easier to find and cheaper to buy than the Ranger ones, atleast around me.

Well, the throttle cable fix definitely made a noticeable difference! It's still no rocket ship, but it's an improvement.

The Taurus engines are definitely more plentiful around here too. I found one from a '99 with 110k miles for $250. It sounds like a good place to start a rebuild, so I may pick that up. Any thoughts?

I used an 03 Taurus engine for mine, but it's basically the same thing. Glad the throttle cable made a difference!

thanks for the heads up on the throttle cable, i m going to look into my to see if i can get some more power out of mine.
