The back glass on my '97 was smashed a long time ago and I'm looking to replace it; I can get it out with relative ease i think and a local junk yard has one I can get, however do i also need a gasket for it? Or is it held in by other means?

I think it depends on whether it's a supercab or not. I know it does in 88.

The supercab rear windows are bolted in with a thick layer of butyl tape.

Apparently regular cab up to 97 used a solid rubber gasket. If it's flexible it might can be reused...

Mine is a '97 supercab and that looks like a gasket?

its screwed and glued. i have one waiting to go in my truck that is that style.

So just butyl tape? Nice! Whole lot easier then messing with a gasket

well....its a bit gooey depending on temp. but for sure way easier. at least on my junk....

sometimes they wil have more
bolts/pins and may have to drill a hole or two. but once you get the trim off it is pretty simple.
