I bought a 1997 Ford Ranger with a 5.0 in it. The radiator is leaking. I need to know what radiators are going in these conversions. New aluminum is preferred. Thank you

Not all swaps are the are the same. Sine used custom made rads, some use 4.0 explorer rads, some like me used a 5.0 explorer rad. And some use whatever they can find.

To help you better, we need to see a few pictures of the rad you have and we may be able to identify which you have.

The rad in the truck now has no filler. The filler is on the upper rad hose.

Measurements are 2 5/8" thick x 22" wide x 16 1/2" tall and the electric fan is approx. 1 3/4" thick

I spoke to Bryan at James Duffy. They have a rad he says will work in the 1997Ranger. Is this a good product?

Use a stock 97 4.0 ranger rad with auto trans...

Thanks SVT

My Ranger has a 5 speed stick trans. Do I still use the 4.0 with auto trans tank?

Yes. Even though you dont have the auto trans (you could use the trans cooler built into the rad for a power steering cooler) as the auto trans is a thicker rad and is more effective in cooling the 5.0...

I called Ford dealer and they say that rad has been discontinued. Looks like there are lots of aftermarkets available.

Go to AutoZone, Napa, etc... and get one. Ford won't carry a part like that anymore. Or you could go to your local JY and take your chances on one of them.
