where you do have a point, run the welds out 3/4 or 1” out past where you normally would.
My guess is to move the stress risers and heat affected zone out past the plate to a less stressed area, kind of like when drilling a hole well past the end of a crack in fiberglass...What's the explanation behind that? I like details. Definitely easy enough to do.. I'll go add a little extra wherever I have points.
