Hey Y'all,

I've been working through an engine swap after work for a few months now. I got a good deal on a 5.0 from a 92 F150, came with a harness and ecu. The harness was toast, so I pulled one from a 89 bronco with a 5.8L in a yard nearby.

I know y'all like pictures so here you go.

Recently moved so this things been sitting in the middle of my living room while I work through the top end.

So, I've started mapping the harness from these four connectors at the terminations.

The plan is to map where everything should go on the ecu, cut these four connectors off and add them to an aftermarket connector. the other side of that connector will get spliced into the chassis harness of the ranger as needed. There's a few discrepancies I'll need to work through (MAF vs. MAP, Splice in a knock sensor to the bronco harness?). Most of my problems have come from the TFI/distributor circuit. To get to the point, I've been digging through my haynes manual and charm.li (recently found this site and it's been helpful) to try to map exactly what these wires are and where they should terminate on my 92 ecu. Problem is, all the diagrams call out the wrong colors and lack required information. Does anyone know where I can find better, reliable diagrams for helping this swap?

Ford published books called "EVTM", Electrical & Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual. They are usually available on ebay in paper or digital form. I would recommend getting one for your original Ranger and another for your donor engine harness vehicle. Then you can compare them and figure out all your cross-connections.

Mine, shown below is in a 3-ring binder because I took apart the one from my 93 Ranger and the one from my 96 Explorer donor and just put the pages I need from each (with my edits) in the binder to make a hybrid book specifically for my vehicle.
