1994 ford ranger 4x4 no light

I just purchased a 1994 ford ranger 4.0 4x4. Manual hubs. I wanted to test out the 4x4 today so i locked the hubs in and when i pressed the 4x4 button with it parked in neutral nothing happened no light illuminated nothing. Any ideas?

Ergo your 4x4 will never work properly.

If I didn't have the parts on hand to convert it to a manual transfer case that part alone would have been enough to turn me away from purchasing the vehicle.
