1993 XLT driver side door handle has been unsprung and flopping loosely since around 2000–2001, but still functional. I think now I want to replace it before it breaks entirely. Found a good YouTube video on the subject and have included a screenshot of the plastic clip that has to be released to pull the connector rod free. Mine is 32 years old. Have any of you done this procedure on the same door setup (93–97ish) and can you tell me how fragile that clip release will be when I get to it? The author of the video took an angled pick tool to flip it apart. That's how I would go at it, but if that thing breaks I don't see how it can be repaired. Any advice from those who have done it?

So I will have everything I need going into it, do you recall what size drill bit took those rivets out?

Like the author of the vid I will probably come back with bolts & nuts with the new handle. Anyone who did that recall the size/length bolts that did the job?

Any other tips to make this as easy as I can? I'll be working alone.

-thanks

Google search Dorman 75450 This is a clip assortment that most local auto parts stores carry. If one of those will work, you can buy that and have one on hand when/if it breaks.
