Hi,
I have 93 4.0L manual 2wd Ranger here and i just replaced the Slave Cylinder. Now i cannot connect the QC Line to the fitting on the Slave. It is not locking in place for all the money of the world. The colour is yellow to yellow so that should match.I made the mistake not to check if it locks in place when i had it on the bench, well what did i know that i run into that issue.i opened the bleeder to make sure there is no resistance on that side.It locks in place on the old fitting no problem.Looks like i have to drop the tranny again to see what to do.
Anyone run into the same issue and came up with a "simple"fix?

This is my first Ranger with a standard and it will be my last one,i really regret buying it,what was i thinking?.What was FORD thinking in developing that setup? They should be paying for the replacement costs.

Well, after i calmed down i pulled the Transmission again and changed over the
QC fitting from the old slave to the new one because the old one locked in just fine, clutch works like perfect.
the pic shows the old slave, had only 4000mls on it.it's stuck, looks like it got really hot and melted the plastic part.i wonder if the previous owner was driving around with her foot always on the clutch pedal?

There is really no reason to get mad at Ford, once you have worked on a variety of vehicles you begin to realize that the Ranger slave cylinder is pretty easy to replace in comparison with repairs on other vehicles. Sometimes those quick connect hose fittings are just stubborn, I fought one for at least half an hour, it just would not go in. My buddy tried it and it slipped in, first try.

FWIW there is a new style connector on some (not all) aftermarket slave cylinders now that involves an external clip instead of the internal retainer. Easier to install and a lot easier to take apart.

Shan, no kidding. You ought try a tune up and valve cover gaskets on a Nissan murano, or the starter on a Cadillac Northstar. They put the starter under the intake manifold. Ranger trannys are easy in comparison.
